Meet the Team

  • Bridgid Agricola

    Bridgid joined the HOW team in 2007 as art director. She has since served as a senior art director for HOW magazine and a content director for HOW Interactive Design.

    She has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Marketing and a Master’s Degree in Interactive Design. Currently, Bridgid is content director for the design community, which includes both HOW and Print. These two brands are dedicated to providing inspiration and information to designers through a variety of mediums, including magazines, websites, design books, online products, competitions, events and more.

  • Chris Butler

    Christopher Butler is the COO of Newfangled, where he directs strategy, design and personnel, as well as consults on a wide variety of topics surrounding design and technology. Christopher is a prolific writer and speaker. His articles have been published in PRINT, HOW, Smashing Magazine, Salon, and elsewhere, and he is the author of The Strategic Web Designer. He has spoken at events for HOW, the UCDA, AIGA, and the American Marketing Association.

  • James Pannafino

    James Pannafino is an associate professor at Millersville University in Pennsylvania. He works in the Art and Design Department where he teaches graphic and interactive design courses. His research interests include interactive design fundamentals, interdisciplinary design, visual storytelling and digital narrative forms. He writes regularly for on interactive design concepts and tools. James recently published Interdisciplinary Interaction Design: A Visual Guide to Basic Theories, Models and Ideas for Thinking and Designing for Interactive Web Design.

  • Ed Roberts

    A native southerner and graduate of the College of Design at North Carolina State University, Ed Roberts is a writer, speaker and award-winning creative director who is a leading expert on constructing high-performing in-house teams comprised of strategic and creative superheroes. He has created hundreds of infographics for a major science and technology magazine with several of his designs featured in two international volumes of Diagram Graphics: The Best in Graphs, Charts, Maps and Technical Illustration.

    Ed enjoys exploring design, creativity and business strategy and writes extensively about these topics as they relate to in-house management for HOW magazine, HOW’s In-house Designer Blog and The Creative Group Blog. He has interviewed several of the industry’s forward-thinking leaders—ranging from Pentagram Partner Michael Bierut, Typographer Gail Anderson, Garden and Gun magazine Art Director Marshall Mckinney, Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv Partner Sagi Haviv as well as the in-house team at Bloomberg Businessweek including Creative Director Richard Turley.

    Ed recently judged the 2015 HOW magazine In-house Design Awards and the United Kingdom’s 2014 In-house Fresh Awards. He serves on the board of InSource as director of marketing and is co-president of the Triangle Advertising Federation. He recently accepted the Mosaic Award from the American Advertising Federation for best multiethnic student program for an internship program developed for diverse high school students.     Patrick McNeil is a UX Designer and passionate educator. Whenever possible you can find Patrick blending the worlds of technology, design and user research.
